“When we have hurt each other as much as we should” in the Artists’ Forum

Mojtaba Jeddi is staging a text by the British writer Martin Crimp for the first time

Theater Online: The play “When We Have hurt Each Other as Much as We Should” written by Martin Crimp, translated by Khatere Kurdkarimi and directed by Mojtaba Jeddi, which is an adaptation of the novel “Pamela or the Reward of Chastity” written by Samuel Richardson, is from the second half of December, it will be staged in the theater of the Iran Artists’ Forum..

The British writer Martin Crimp is considered one of the world’s most prominent contemporary playwrights, and the world’s literary critics consider him one of the postmodern writers as well as aggressive theater.

Some other critics have also compared the type of characterization in Crimp’s plays with David Lynch’s films and believe that the stubborn and cruel characters of Crimp’s works are reminiscent of the stubborn, violent and complex characters of David Lynch’s works.

The form and language of the play are considered to be the most important features of this author, which can be seen as the continuation of the drama tradition of Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and Sarah Kane.

In Crimp’s plays, everything moves on the border, on the border of darkness and uncertainty. He has a dark and bitter view of human relations. None of the characters in his works experience love and pleasure deeply and live in a bitter and bitter world. Some critics also consider him among the experimental playwrights.

Before this show, Mojtaba Jeddi has staged “Assaults on that woman’s life” by the same author for the first time in Iran and in the city of Kashan.
